This song tells the story of the lead singer in the band Issac Slade, going to a camp, to help troubled teenagers. The singer speaks of a seventeen year old boy who is suffering badly from depression. He was on drugs and his best friend and also his family have turned their back on him. This young man feels alone and isolated. All he needs is some love and support. Slade tried to reach out and help him but he was unsuccessful because he didn't know how. This is why the following line is repeated throughout the song:

'Had I known,how to save a life'

I believe this song is very relevant to everyday life because there are so many people suffering from depression and feel they can't talk about it beacausebe it not not normal. But remember,
